hi. i have this Vespasian coin and i was wondering where was it minted. my friend told me that it was minted in Antioch but i think that the coin was minted in Alexandria because of the mark the i highlighted on the picture here is the picture http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p4/ilan1812/coins/HWScan000082.jpg thanks
Looks more like the Antioch to me, Like these: Of course without showing a rev. it tough to say what you have. Alexandria, as far as I know, used LH, LA, LZ, LG Also there is one that has a B on the Rev. that has his son titus on it and vespasian on the obv. Otherwise...I have never seen that mark (not that I have seen them all) and if it IS from antioch, the mark looks wrong and the coin just looks kinda wrong...but I wouldnt be an expert on authenticity.
well here is the front and the back of the coin. front: http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p4/ilan1812/coins/DSC01466.jpg back: http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p4/ilan1812/coins/DSC01467.jpg
Hello, Your coin is a bit disturbing. As noticed by Drusus, it would be OK with a lituus, where the symbol on your coin looks more likethe "infinite" symbol I would send a pic from obverse and reverse to Michel Prieur, who wrote a book about syro-phenician tets. i give you the adress in a PM Cucumbor
