I have a 1996 Lincoln Memorial Penny that is messed up. The back of the penny has a spider-like design. I think what happened is a bunch of pennies during the minting process, or somewhere along the line, came i
n behind the penny and dug a grove into the back of the penny creating the spider-like design.the marks are ramdom looking

99.99% probability that your cent has after-Mint damage.

The reverse face was removed by a lathe or milling machine.

I'll have to agree with Roy, after-Mint damage.

It looks like it was placed against an abrasive belt or disk sander while being rotated slowly. The markings look exactly like some brass casting I’ve worked on.
