Very Red 1941-s

    Here it is pictured next to a normal colored penny (1919 penny) IMG_6539.jpg

    How much do you think it is worth?

    Is the red special? (I'm a newbie)

    Sorry but it's not going to bring a premium, it's worth about 2 cents.

    I agree. If anything, it looks like something has happened to the coin to change it's color...it has been damaged in some way.

    Yep, looks like there's some verdigris on the coin. I've seen that color on Lincolns before, just don't know exactly what causes it though.

    It's worth more than that. These old cents are 95% copper and by weight they are worth more than a cent.

    I've found a lot of those "red" ones and even "black" ones and started a collection of them. I like the laquered look of them.
