    Yikes,

I just wanted to see it. I know my first big buy on the bay was a 1899 Black Eagle which would of been the sister to that baby, and I paid WAY to much for her, but wanted her so paid for her anyway.

I believe the saying goes beauty is in the eye of the holder. If your just collecting to have one...maybe, for investment. well i would wait for more form opinions then...

    Regards,
    Stan

Some might say keep it, some would say loose it. IMHO - I would hang onto it for now if you got it cheaply (or can get it cheaply). Some of us on small currency budgets can only afford stuff like that. I would love to get one of those in CHCU....but realize that I can't afford one like that.

Bottom line - if you like it and think it was worth it, then keep it. but like I said....IMHO.....and my opinion doesn't match the majority a lot of the time.

Wouldn't pay more than $25 for it.

I still kick myself for selling my EF years ago.

I know how it feels to want a note but funds won't allow, it happen to me all the time, but I would hold off, save up a little more cash. You'll be happier in the long run.

IMO, Nay. Twenty skins + $5/ $10 more could buy a 1935A Brown seal Hawaii SC in VG/F. Not on feeBay. Not at an online site either. But, your friendly local coin / currency store most likely could help. Another reason to establish a relationship with a dealer. However, if you are lusting to own the twenty, snap it up.

i might grab it for the $4 premium, plus shipping. its still worth the $20 face, so your not losing much :)

Them and every other note the U.S. has ever printed. Unlike some (most?) countries, the U.S. never demonetizes its obsolete notes. You might have a hard time convincing your friendly local gas station cashier that that bill can be spent for $20, but it can be.

Isn't that true with one exception. Wasn't some of the fractional currency from the 1800s demonetized?

I know it would never happen, but it would be cool if after taking to the bank they reissued it as a star note.:)

With a little luck, you could take it to the bank and you they would issue you a star note like this: :hail: (sorry, I had to say it :kewl: ).

Demonetised, meaning you cannot spend them in a store, but they can be redeemed for face value.

Gold certificates were demonetised, and technically illegal to own until the 1960's. I wonder that the reason some are around is that some held onto them thinking they were going to be redeemed at a later time, ie the USA would go back on the gold standard? In the Jupiter collection sale there is a 1922 $500 Gold Certificate with Lincoln's vignette, that was quite a pile of dough to stash away back then without spending it.
