Very Odd 2001 Vermont Quarter, Any Ideas..?

    Just found this among a collection I am going through, Any ideas. Looks like the clads are not complete, just very strange looking. The coin stood out like a sore thumb in with thousands of other quarters...

    Looks like an acid job, it eats the copper, but not the clad.

    Search the threads here for "acid bath". That's what appears to have happened to your coin.

    i heard from someone that coins like this come from years sitting in fountains

    could add a little chlorine for algae control from time to time
    and you get a acid job years in the making

    that is probably why your quarter has dirt stains on it

    Thanks guys, I knew there was something fishy. Well looks like it goes in the spend pile... I did find a small motto 2 cent piece yesterday.....:D
