    Hi Everyone,

I have a question that the answer is probably very simple but it keeps eluding me. I am collecting the Presidential dollars and the Sacagawea dollars. I am doing it because it is fun and educational, not to turn a profit etc...

So my question is about the satin finished coins. Are all uncalculated coins you buy from the mint (Presidential Dollars) satin finished??? I have the 2007 and 2008 Proof sets and the 2007 P&D UNC. Presidential Set. Is the 2007 UNC P&D satin finished? I am assuming it is but for some reason this is one of those things that keeps my mind going in circles.

Like I said I know it is probably a basic answer but there it is. Thanks a million.

Yes, the P&D uncirculated mint sets come with the satin finish. Several years ago, the mint decided to change their mint sets to satin finish to distinguish the coins for standard circulation coins.

That is what I thought but I never could find anything to confirm that. Thanks Richie.

The first year for the satin finish was 2005, all mint sets prior have regular uncirculated coins contained within

ty conder, I stand and this post stands corrected.

    Leadfoot there is no spoon

When was the first "satin" proof coin minted?

Can't swear to it, but I think was 1921.
