Can anyone tell me about these type of errors? This is very impressive and the planchet is actually split open. I have been collecting errors for quite awhile, but I have never heard of a VERTICALLY MISALIGNED ERROR. Alright all you pros can laugh at that. Anyway, I think it's pretty amazing to be on a proof coin becuase of how dramatic and easy it is to see. How rare is this kind of error? Thanks for any help!
I'm wondering how NGC determined this was a mint error. to me it looks like some kind of a machine has sheared off some of the coin's rim after it was struck. maybe it is counting machine damage? NGC has been slabbing some doozeys lately , look at the coin in my thread on here titled [another ebay coin to look at.
