Anyone know anything about these guys? Seem to be humorous. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ancient-Rom...716938?hash=item2f0a816c4a:g:CsgAAOSwDehZpVmj
Probably not a sense of humor. Likely half crazy, the other half knowing these are all fakes and you cant return them if you give a confusing listing. It only take a few sales to make it all worth their while....
I was hoping for someone doing a paper on stupidity online checking to see if they can sell something that has absolutely no basis in reality, described in "English as a fourteenth language." If I were 'a bettin' I'd bet they they sell more than some dealers who are hampered by making sense and offering real coins.
As for a legit vendor with a sense of humor, I think of Frank Robinson's email announcement in early July for his last auction (now ended). Gotta smile at the hyperbole: "It is with inordinate pride and pleasure that I announce my landmark 101st auction of ancient and early coins, closing August 15. The sale boasts 558 lots, of superlative quality for the most discriminating connoisseurs. Enter the catalog and you will be transported on wings of angels into a veritable dreamworld of numismatic treasures. Your portal to bidding ecstasy opens at: http://www.fsrcoin.com/t.html"
A family of Rabbis and Levites,. Whats not to trust? It's all legit, maybe! Yeah, I can't believe I read all of that, but I did get a good laugh.
I think they are covering their rear ends so you can't return the coin if it's found to be fake (which it probably is). By their own descriptions the coin is either silver or a dozen other base metals, was minted during the periods between BCE and CE (ie. all the way from antiquity until 1 minute ago), and the word cast is also in the description. So if it turns out to be a fake they have an iron cast way to get out of having to give you any refund. And shame on them to use their Jewish faith when they are trying to scam people this way...they are not doing any favors to other Jewish people (most of whom are outstanding individuals) by mixing religion with their scams.
Kind of reminds me of lowrating_littlebrains who uses homosexuality to help sell his coins of Constans. He literally puts "Constans Gay Emperor" in the title of his listings for this ruler, as if this is some huge scandal that'll prompt people to buy his overpriced coins.
I just came a across one of their listings the other day and this guy is wacked! I may be pretty new in Ancients but I am no fool and this is one to stay away from.
Look through their sold listings. They know exactly what they are doing. They are selling $1 fakes for $20 to $500+. They have sold several Syracuse dekadrachms for up to $290. 100% feedback means nothing when the people buying don't know what they are buying.
