Because the mintmark on coins of this era was punched by hand, there could be a wide variety of locations that it could be punched. This is higher than most, but within tolerance. If you apply the term "variety" to mean "any variation in the die making process" then yes, it is. If, however, you mean "a collectible anomaly worth a premium" then no, it isn't.
