Has this ever happened to you?

I saw a coin a few days ago on an internet dealer site. It was a beautiful coin for the grade. It was a grade I'd like to have. It was a series I am interested in collecting. It was a date and mintmark I need. The price was very fair. The dealer was known to be reputable. I want to buy the coin. So what's the problem?

I can't find it again. Worse yet, I can't recall which of the dealers I found it under. I have a group of dealers I'm willing to buy from bookmarked, but the coin has vanished. I don't think it was purchased by someone else because I can't find several other coins in the series that were on the same site I was looking at at the time.

    It just vanished! Tragic. :(

I once spent two years looking for a coin and then I was tipped to a dealer who had it in a good condition for a fair price, I didn't pull the trigger.

Why, other stuff was happening and I didn't get back to conduct the purchase in time.
A lesser grade for more money was being offered instead and if I didn't see the first I would have brought the second but how could I after seeing the first. Oh well.
Perhaps next time, stuff will not be happening.

That aways happened to me when my dealer would get in 1932-D or S mint quarters....they go like their hot (and I don't mean stolen)--well last week I told him...I said...I don't have all of the money today but put that coin back and I'll pay you off in the next few weeks...so this time it can't vanished!!

No, but I have made an offer for a coin and the seller emailed back accepting the offer at 7 a.m. "We will accept $170.00 plus $6.20 insured shipping" -and then at 2 p.m. he later emailed back, "Sorry to report that we did not hear from you and coin has now been sold." There's was nothing to hear back about.... *poof*

Turns out I found a better deal on the same type coin from a reputable seller a couple of days later.

I'll look for it over the weekend -- again. It's out there someplace. But now I'm not sure I'll be able to buy it anyway; at least not right away. Something else came along called a "fuel tank pressure sensor" that my car decided I need right now more than I need the coin. Somehow when the "check engine" light comes on the dashboard, the outcome never results in buying more coins.

Know exactly how you feel sweeper, as I had a similar experience only it involved something much larger than a coin.
I enlisted in the Navy and thought that I needed a tattoo before shipping out. So went to town and found a tattoo parlor, but decided to go right next door and refresh myself and get a little pain killer before going ahead with the ordeal.
When I came out of the club, that dang tattoo parlor had vanished or moved because it was no where to be found, so I gave up and never did go in to get my art work.

I hope you are more successful than I was!

Dan - It sounds like you were very "refreshed" when you left the club! Or maybe you got the tattoo and forgot where they put it.
