So what is the profitable Vam's to find? Hot lips, Donkey Tail, King of Vams...but what else brings a nice premium. Because I like getting them but the it would be better for this kind to have been found then paid for like the no premium ones I can pay for Thanks for any input you have.
Any of the top 100 VAMs are the best if you're buying raw and then wanting to slab them and sell for a profit. PCGS only gives attribution to a select group of VAM Morgans. Other than that, it's not worth sending in a VAM that isn't top 100, hot 40 or whatever else they call them. For starters, I would suggest that you compile a list of the best VAMs with their identifying characteristics and then go hunting. Also, unless it is very high in rarity and interest, not much premium is paid for VAMs in lower than MS state. Think about the collectors of such... first of all, they like Morgans for the majority. These are relatively easy to find in MS state in common variety. A matured Morgan collector will want to get the best coins available. So, knowing that a VAM collector is most likely a specialist in the the Morgan field... it safe to assume that they are only after the highest grade VAMs anyway. Anything less than MS grade will be passed over unless it is really rare or the price is right.
I purchased 4 NGC BU Graded Morgans. All VERY NICE.. Great deal for 55.00.. So Far I identified 1885-O VAM4 .. No Idea of Value.. 1881-S VAM14.. Same .. No Idea $$ 1904-O That I cant Track Down Yet.. .. VAM's Are Best to find from others who are not looking for them.. Now I need to resend these out for regrade.. With the VAM
PCGS and NGC will only list the top 100, Hot 50, and Hit list 40 vams. ANACS certifies more, but even they don't attribute every VAM. So you would want to make sure the grading company will list the VAM before you submit your coins.
Thanks.. I know I have one HOT100.. Found that in some Bulk Silver I had.. It is in VG.. But these BU would Grade high I think.. I do have two Questions.. One.. Do the Grading Co. do the research as to the VAM or do I have to give them the info as to what VAM i Think it is?? AND... WHY would someone spend the $$ to have a coin Graded and Just have it as BU.. with no MS grade?? Or the VAM for that sake.. These would have pulled a higher bid then my 60.00 winner.... Man, VAM world is going to get some researching tonight...
Varieties in Dies.. Same as Paper.. Morgans / Peace Dollars.. Some sell for high Dollars... Checkout VAMWORLD.com.. Crazed Prices for Some.. Hot 50 or the 100 These are others I have The 1889 W/ Doubled "18" is a Hot 100 I got for 15.00.. Nice but for the Rim ding
You can either list what vam it is, or have them attribute it. (But it will cost more if they have to attribute it). But I would suggest you really know what vam it is before you send it in, just to make sure it really is a vam worth grading, and you don't waste the extra fees. As for the B.U grade, there can be a few reasons; sometimes with bulk lots if a coin doesn't meet a certain grade, it is put in a generic B.U holder.
Thanks for the info.. I can't track down this one.. So many for 1904O Pictures of the Highlights.. The Date.. Clash on Rev.. Crack Around Most of the Rev top... MM seems High and Right?
Just Found a MS65 1886 P VAM 11 Anyone know what kind of Value that may have? No history of sale price on VAMWORLD for this one
Looks like there's some doubling on the left wreath. Check the vams under the C4l reverse VAMworld - 1904-O Reverses.
Vam 11 isn't on any list, so there isn't really going to be much of a premium. Mainly because if it isn't on any of the lists (100, 50, 40), there isn't going to be that much demand for it.
Thanks. so much.. I looked and found none that match yet.. I think the marker I am looking for is the Doubled "9" in 1904.. No matches yet... Also a Small Gouge in the Rim Above the M .. Obverse. And Thanks for the info on the Other one..
Last year I bought a collection raw UNC Morgans. It provided hours of fun looking for VAMs. Here is a long nock from the group.
Correct, AND the bulk submitter is charge a lower rate for the BU graded slab than for one with a grade. (There are rules, you hae to submit more than a set number of pieces and the percentage that grades at or above your minumum grade must exceed a certain amount. If they don't, you pay full price for the no grades.)
Wow, That Could be a waste.. I would much rather see these as a Graded MS65 or 66 Then the BU Grade.. I would have paid more.. well I guess I wouldn't a "rather" have HAD them Graded.. Before I bought them..
