After returning from a coin show in Charlottesville last month, an Annandale couple left their collection in the car for 10 minutes after pulling into their driveway. When they returned, everything was gone.

After attending an antique coin show in Charlottesville on Saturday, April 14, an elderly couple returned home to the Annandale area only to have their collection—worth hundreds of thousands of dollars—stolen right out of the car in their own driveway, police said Tuesday.

And once again they violated the number one rule - NEVER leave your coins unattended. Yet it happens again, and again, and again, and again.......

  4. At least they were not hurt. Who knows what might have happened if the thieves confronted them face to face. Hope they had good insurance. TC

Insurance may not cover it. I could easily see the company deciding that leaving them unattended constituted negligence and thus letting the company off the hook.

anyone who would leave 100 K worth of coins unguarded in the driveway is just asking for problems....unfortunate but true......leave grandma in the front seat with a gun if you gotta but NEVER leave your valuables alone in the car.

Most likely the robber followed them home from the show. I've heard of it happening before.

Most certainly, they have been doing that for decades.

While in no way condoning the theft, I still have to wonder what kind of moron leaves a half a million dollars worth of coins unguarded?

The same kind that this same exact thing happens to at least once a month. If people won't learn then this is what will happen.

It seems like they were unloading besides i think they were lucky that they weren't there, i am pretty sure the culprits would have whacked them to steal those coins.
