Does anyone know how much this is worth. I have a 1964 $5 bill with red serial numbers. The serial number is 18998599. I search the internet and it says that $5 bills from that year had red serial numbers so I guess that means its not that rare if they were all red serials that year. Cant find anything on value though. I am keeping it anyway. Thanks.
1963 I think you'll find that your note (bill) is a 1963. Without seeing it and assuming it's circulated I'd say $7-8. Always cool to find though!
only 'legal tendor notes' had the red seals and serials . FRBN's did not, as they have always had the green seal. Now, they might not have minted FRBN $5 notes that year, but considering you have a red serial/seal, they must have minted the LTN's. As for value, i would need a picture to judge a grade, or if you can grade the note yourself...
Yes youre right its 1963 Serial A18998599A Well its not perfect its has light crease about 1/4 of the way from the top but it doesnt have any folds or tears or anything. I would call it a high grade circulated. Going to post picture as soon as I scan it.
Hey Daggarjon, 1963 had Legal Tenders (red seal) and Federal Reserve notes (green seals). There was also a 1963-A series of FRN's. clembo
i was going on the assumption the year was 1964 i dont have my books with me to check so i was just going with the flow lol good call on the 63'!
