Welcome to CT. The 1971 had a mintage of 1.5 Billion.
Where did you come up with the two figures in your poll?

I used to sell them in my 10-cent, 12/$1.00 bin when I had a small antique mall operation. Your $100 and $500 figures are laughable, I'm afraid. More like ten cents.

I think a lot of these posters think that, they have a coin worth $100 or $500 when it is more like face value or 10 cents.

Just some advice; if you are looking to get rich from finding valuable coins, the chances are worse than the lottery. I'd suggest you play it instead.

Heck man…. I own some ten and twenty dollar coins that are priceless to me for one reason or another. If that coin holds value to you, that’s all that matters.

What Randy said. You certainly ain't gonna get rich off that one, but if you like it, that's all that matters.
