Hi guys, I just found a $1 dollar bill in change with the serial number L 31313160 A. It's a series 2006 note if that matters. It's also in average circulated grade, with a couple folds, and a slightly deeper one for the wallet fold. Would a note like this carry any premium? If not, I'll probably just keep it in my collection anyway, since it was only $1. I won't be able to post pics until tomorrow night I'm afraid, but I just wanted to throw this out there. Thanks

I am getting the impression that EVERY note is special - the Gov. must love that as it keeps tons out of circulation.

Close but no cigar on that one another 31 instead of a 60 would have been worth
    A small fortune!

I would think it's a spender..if that 6 and 0 were replaced by another 3,1, then you have something worth wild.

Aw, what a bummer. Thanks guys, I'm going to keep it anyway since it's the first semi cool SN I've found..Does anyone else think there should be a sticky called "How much is this SN worth?" or something?

I think there should be a sticky with descriptions that members could use to determine, for themselves, why their SN isn't worth much at all.

I would also keep the 'near repeater' you found but I'm curious what amount constitutes a "A small fortune!" for this L31313160A, especially given the condition you cited.

Scans or photos of notes are needed just as much as is the Series of the note and the SN to determine "worth" and valuability, without them there's hardly much point in the thread until the scans are ready.

Keep searching and good luck! :thumb:

in this instance, a small fortune might be $10 or less lol... considering the described condition, maybe $5. But as mentioned, this note is a spender IMHO.

If it was CH-CU, I would keep it as a novelty note, but in circulated condition it's a candidate for the dollar menu at McDonalds.
