Was kind of waiting for GDJMSP to post this thread, but decided he must have overlooked it in his rush to go ice fishing.
So here is the results of the Utah design competition, it is down to three designs; Beehive, Railroads, and Winter Sports. CLICK HERE

Well I would have Dan, but if you'll recall I predicted it would be the two trains at Promontory Point way back in 2001. I figured then it's a foregone conclusion and no sense thinkin about anymore ;)

What I like about it, as it's suggested in the article, is that there is no state outline, AND each item has some historical significance to Utah.

I think the Delicate Arch, think of it on the Utah license plates, this is a natural stone bridge belongs on the quarter, it too is a symbol of Utah, a tourist draw and non religious.

Otherwise if it did not have religious element, the "This is the Place" with a wagon overlooking the SLC Valley would have been appropriate.

I would kinda like to see an Olympic design for Utah, being that the 2002 Olympics were held in Salt Lake City.

They got those on the Olympic commemoratives in 2002. Personally, I think those were pretty good designs, although I do know of some people who don't think that.

I'm sure the aftermarket coin damagers are lobbying for this one so they can gold plate a spike onto it ;)

Maybe they could alude to the bribery scandal from the SLCOC getting the games.
