utah quarter with strip of metal?

    this looks odd and I have never seen anything like it, advice appreciated.

    that's what I am hoping for but it looks different than what you generally see on the state quarters

    The UT SQ's had die breaks and die cracks all over the reverse, particularly where it involved the trains. I don't see any indication that the rim is cracked or broken, so I'm guessing that it is a die break.

    two die cracks where the piece broke off..

    then it became a cud, since it includes the rim

    I don't see any separation from the rim, looks like a cud to me. So this is where I need to get more education on the finer points of a cud.

    There isn't a separation anywhere across the rim either. That's why I don't think it is a cud. Who knows! I could be wrong.
