Hello CT'ers, I really just want to vent for a while and hope you don't mind me doing it here. I bought the last two BU Roosevelt's I needed for my silver series collection and expected them to arrive today. Two different sellers from different parts of the country, but the tracking numbers told me they were out for delivery this morning. Morning passes, no mail. 3PM, no mail. 5 PM, still no mail so I check the USPS numbers and find out my coins were delivered at 2:45PM, but obviously not to me! I am now ripping mad and want to vandalize a mail truck!!! (Too late in the day to complain to anybody). Instead, I go for a walk and try to calm down. Got sidetracked at a neighbors house for a couple of hours helping him work on his '41 Indian motorcycle. Started to get dark so I walked home. Get in the door and my wife says she has some good news for me. My missing coins arrived while I was gone. Some guy we don't know brought them by saying the mail was delivered to him by accident. Two bubble envelopes, a thick manila envelope with my quarterly 401K statement and a Comcast bill! (Kinda wish he kept the Comcast bill.) I did get my coins, but will seriously ream some people at the Post Office first thing tomorrow. Thanks for letting me vent, I feel much better now! Joe
I'll bet it wasn't your usual carrier. Majority of mistakes like this are from carriers that are temps, or covering the route (or possible, temp help in sorting). Regardless, I can almost guarantee a temp or someone not normally assigned to the route was involved. Happened to me more times than I care to renember. Sometimes, people are honest and courteous and DO bring you your stuff...sometimes, not. Glad yours turned out OK....but someone IS due a reaming...it isn't rocket science.
Sorry to hear that happened to you, but you know what they say: “All’s well that ends well.” Good thing that gentleman was an honest guy.
Thanks numis, a reaming is forthcoming. I started my Engineering career with the USAF in 1980. THAT was rocket science, not matching numbers on a letter with numbers on a box. Anyway, wasn't it Don Rickles who said "Have a cookie and calm down" or something like that? I had a beer instead, much calmer now! Joe
bonbon....it was Don Rickles who said that (to the best of this 25 y.o.'s recollection, but Rickles has been my FAVE comedian of all time). And in your situation, a cookie just wouldn't cut it....the brew was a much better choice! lol Like GoldenFire said, good thing that person who DID receive your packages was honest. Not many people will do that nowadays. BUT, a good reaming is STILL in order....just make sure you DO have a cookie or two, instead of a brew or two, before the reaming commences!!! Oh, and bonbon...thank you for your service to the country!!!
I had two tracked packages delivered on the same day, but at different times. Unfortunately only one ended up at my house. I asked my regular mailman about it. He was off that day.
