Using LDPE foam as spacers?

    Hi all,

Although I have searched for and found several threads that deal with safe materials, I'd like some advice on a coin storage idea I have.

I am currently storing some silver coins/rounds that I have in an Intercept box (this type), and each coin is, variously, in either an airtite or Quadrum Intercept Shield 2x2. Since these boxes have no dividers (didn't realize that at the time I bought them), I am considering making my own from a roll of LDPE packing foam, so that the coin holders don't clack into each other.

Question 1: Should this material be a problem for my coins over the long term? I have the ability to get polypropylene foam sheets, but it is 2x the cost to do so, so if polyethylene will work, I will use it.

Question 2: I have not found Duck Brand at my local Walmart, but they do have their own store brand of this. I cannot, however, find a materials datasheet to know what it is made from for certain. Can I assume it is the same material, or is it likely not to be?

Thanks for the help, everyone. I appreciate it!
