What do you look for when buying one? I see them on ebay from abut 20 bucks to hundreds. What do I need to look for? Ice
1. Existing software drivers for your operating system. 2. Highest possible resolution. I see a HD capable webcam at best buy for about $70, and there is no reason why we couldn't have a USB scope at HD resolution for under $100. 3. A lens system that allows you to magnify well , without blocking your own light. Some call this "extended focus", but is really just a macro arrangement. 4. In relation to #3, be able to get a focus/magnification range which would allow every coin from 3 cent silver to ASE to fill the complete frame. 5. A nice sturdy support arm. so the USB microscope stays where you put it, and doesn't slowly sink to the tabletop. 6. Extras would be easy color balance masking software, although most like Photoscape and Photoshop, etc. can do this.
the one I bought was $60, it has LED lights built into it and it came with software that works flawlessly with my PC. The only complaint I have is the LED light reflects onto the plastic if you are taking pics of slabs. You can see pics I took in the errors section, literraly 5 minutes to install it and a child could work it. Make sure it has a camera and some kind of lighting with it to make it easy.
not sure what you mean, are you talking about the photoeditor? The scope came with software to capture the video. I already have photoshop so I use that to edit it.
