USA 1 cent 1985

    In thesame collection, I also found this coin: a USA cent dated 1985. Before the buste of Lincoln, an additionnal point is present, as well as on the first 1 in 1985. See the picture for a clearer idea ;-)
    Can someone teel me if this a registered variety or not? What should it be worth?

    It is a possibility that that is a "die marker" dot.it was common that they would put dots in misc locations,so this way they could keep track of what die it was,it was a way of "numbering" the die,without putting a number on it..Im not sure the exact date they discontinued this practice,and the majority of them were pretty well hidden.but some were not.So if it is not that,than there is no telling what it is.

    can you give me a link to info on that? I've never heard that in relation to modern us coinage. I'm curious

    the marks on your coin are bubbles caused by gas forming between the copper plating anf the zinc core. This is very common of post 82 Lincolns. If there is a nick in the bubble the coin will eventually form a rot hole there.
