Wow! Things are happening really fast, I wonder what's next? The US Mint figured out they wouldn't make as much money as they would have if silver was at a better price so they suspended three upcoming silver items including the 2013 ASE set. Check out the link. 2013-W Proof American Silver Eagle 2012-P Chaco Culture National Historical Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin 2012 Annual Uncirculated Dollar Coin Set with a 2012-W Uncirculated American Silver Eagle http://www.coinnews.net/2013/04/15/us-mint-suspends-three-numismatic-silver-products/
I was actually going to ask the question today as to what protocols might be in place governing how the U.S. Mint adjusted pricing and production when gold and/or silver were in volatile phases, as in presently the case. I guess this is a partial answer....
Yeah, I read about that earlier this morning. Price readjustment time........the stuff is still gonna be expensive.
The 2013 ASE set is still listed at $149.95 and says nothing about either coin being exclusive to the set. Hmm, what’s that, a $100 premium for 2oz of fancy bullion that they’ll sell three different ways before the mintage is high enough to doom it in the aftermarket? If silver stays low, maybe they’ll lower it to the correct price of around $79.95, which still more than doubles their money.
been holding off on the ASE proof to get it with the Wunc and the 2pc set. I might make out from the mint for a change. still overpriced but cheaper than before, I hope.
