I was just on the mints site and they are now selling by the pound wheat pennies, mercury dimes, buffalo nickels and grab bags of silver coins.

    Thoughts?

I think this sucks, and I hope no one buys many of them and they stop. But at least here is proof they are able to pull the good stuff out of circulation if they wanted to.

I'd be willing to bet that it's just a private company using "look alike" marketing.

I guess it is a private company. Caught me off guard.

I'm glad thought the damn gov was gonna search all our coins ahead of time.

Be glad it is just regular coins. I was looking at watches the Perth Mint offers from Australia. I am surprised they don't offer the coin rings yet. The Singapore Mint has wedding gifts made from silver or gold, engraving optional. Other government mints offer special items for Valentines, Christmas, birthdays, etc.... Everybody is trying to find new ways to get every dollar they can. You may see more of this in our mint's future besides.

That is not the official website nor is it one I would care to do business with. However, others are welcome to spend their money as they see fit.

I agree with the above. People are free to waste their money in any way they choose.
