US Mint Return Question

    I sent a defective silver proof set back to the mint about 2 months ago and have heard nothing back. Does anyone know if this is normal for the mint? I did take out insurance but wondered how long I should wait and can you call the mint to see if they have a record of the return. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

    Two months is a little on the long side. I would call & see if they have processed your return yet. Did you ask for an exchange or just return? You should receive an e-mail stating that they credited your account, makes no difference if it's an exchange or straight return. And don't forget to ask to be refunded your postage & insurance.

    call 1800 usa-mint. and don't be shy sometimes being obnoxious works with this odd crew.

    well they have to credit ur card, then re-order the damn thing. Then charge ur card again. Why can't they just simplify?

    Do they refund postage & insurance? I just sent back some proof sets and asked for replacement.

    Called the mint today and they received it at the end of June but haven't processed it yet for some reason. Was told to call back monday and the claims dept will take care of it. Good old US mint.

    I got my return on 2 defective 2004 11 Pc Silver Proof sets in about 3 weeks. But that was last year.

    After you have received a notice that they credited your account, call them & ask to be reimbursed for postage & Ins.

    Oh Ya, it's your money & you gotta keep track of it.
    It's easy to get lost with that outfit!
    I always write down my order # and any other #'s in communications until the order is complete & I'm satisfied.
    Learned the hard way, You gotta watch um.

    You have to really hammer the Mint sometimes. I ordered the unc Mint set when it first came out and returned it because of the flaws in the coins (bag marks and the like). I called and called and it wasn't until I told them that I was going to put in a claim against the insurance that they finally indicated that they had received it. The other side of the story is that I still have not received my replacement set. During last week they pushed out the ship date from Aug 31 to Sept 10.
