US Mint quality

I can understand some imperfections on some business strikes, but the proof coinage that the US Mint makes is not nearly as good as it should be. There are weak strikes, dies that have outlived their striking life being used, and my biggest pet peeve in coinage, offset (not centerd) strikes. The Canadian Mint seems to be much better at this. Every single Ben Franklin dollar I've seen has been struck off center.

BTW, it appears that grading companies don't judge a coin by it's striking alignment. Has anyone else noticed this?

They do, but they don't always accord it the same weight as other criteria when grading a coin. But I will certainly agree with your other comments.
