Back on the 13th of this month I ordered a few items from the mint; some 1st Spouse medals, couple o' silver proof sets and an American legacy Collection. I tend to order the things I like all at the same time in order to cut down on shipping as the fee for shipping is quite reasonable and doesn't go up if you order extra items. I checked back a few days latter and everything was in stock except for the Legacy Collection. No biggie, I thought, they'll send the small stuff and just back-order the Legacy Collection like they always do whenever I order. Not so this time. Seems to me that they're holding the order till the back-ordered item becomes available and then ship everything at once. Any of you folks experiencing the same thing?
It may be that their clearance sale (think LOTS and LOTS or orders) and their impending change from one fulfillment contractor to another may be causing a bottleneck in shipping. Just a thought.
Well folks I got confirmation from the mint, of an intension to ship, this morning and get this....it's coming UPS (still in Memphis). They did backorder the Legacy set so I guess the situation was much like Hobo stated (they're just swamped with orders). Guess the mint/postal service/DHL alliance is dead. That's OK for me as I like tracking my packages in real time and UPS is second to none in that regard.
My proofs also arrived. They seem to do this every year and deliver a bunch of orders 2 days before the big Christian holiday. Ruevain
