A friend of mine who used to own several (maybe 40-50) pay phones called me today with a question. He has 2 2000D $1000 sealed w/tags Massachusetts Mint bags, and would like to know the value. Apparently, he made some kind of trade (old for new) back in 2001 when the State Quarters Program was going on. :help!A: I'm a bullion guy, so I'm bringing this question to the experts...what kind of premium (if any) would 8000 BU Mass quarters carry? Do the sealed/tagged bags help?
Anything is possible in an auction format, but now that the SQ program has ended, it's anybody's guess what they might be worth. I used to hoard the SQ rolls from the Mint. A lot of them were selling for more than $20 each while the program was still going, but afterwards, the prices dropped to the point that any of them purchased from the Mint were selling at a loss. The only thing your friend might have going for him if he decides to place them at auction on, say, eBay is that there may be some toner-lovers or error-lovers who might want them just to search. All he needs is two bidders trying to win them to run the price up. Chris
