This is ungraded, and being new to grading paper currency - what's the opinion on its grade? Based on coins I would guess F12, though online examples that look similar to my (inexperienced) eye are graded VG8 to VF20 - depending on how clean they look plus any edge damage/fold marks it seems! Any opinions welcome - this is a new area for me! Its Fr.87 - online resources get me that far..
From my limited experience with paper, I think you grade range is pretty accurate. It has nice bright colors, which I like, but the "folds" go well beyond "a few." Somewhere in the Fine range is probably accurate.
Well, I can't help you with the grade, as this is a little out of my collecting area, but I did want to comment that it is a "sweet" sawbuck; particularly because of the axeman & the dog!
Thanks guys for the comments. Grading at the low end is probably easier than XF or better, since there is less room for 'improvement' as it were.. In such instances a image is not enough - you need the body! This note combines being quite affordable with traditional motifs in the design - it will do me I think. $5 was a fair bit of money in 1915!
Boarder on front is clipped on the bottom actually extends in to the bill itself also has some corner folding at what appears to be some writing on the back, hard to tell with out more detailed pics, safe bet would be VF-15 maybe a bit higher on a good dy
