Is it just me or does anybody else have a constant urge to break your coins out of their 2x2 holders and handle them raw? I have a bunch of junk silver in 2x2's and i just want to take them all out and fondle my silver like a bank robber haha. Not to sound like a creep
Don't get any prints on those halves!!!! But yes I like to touch and look at my coins... Especially uncirculted coins.
That's one of the reasons I like collecting ancients. Few slab them in the first place, and no one really cares about fingerprints on a coin that was already in the ground for centuries.
I don't like the 'untouchable' coins as much, love handling coins, especially really smooth silver. i may develop a fetish.
I do it all the time. 2 x 2s or less than a cent a piece. I cut them out take pictures and set them in sections on my desk. I look at them under a microscope, and then I place them in a new 2x2. This is part of collecting, enjoying your coins. A couple of weeks or months will go by and I will read about an error that I may have. I will open up the 2x2 and look at the coins and place them back into a 2x2. I go thru a lot of 2 x 2s but like you I like holding a raw coin (by the edges and in some cases with gloves) in my hand and looking at it.. Big Ed
There's nothing like the feeling and sound of holding and passing from hand to hand a half dozen or so Double Eagles.
Whoa...., how many of us do you think could experience that? How about passing a handful to my hands so I know what it's like .
Good question. Junk silver goes in a jug - a few pieces left. Anything worth anything goes in an airtite. I do keep a couple of large cents out just so others can touch them and feel them.
I put the silver I find in rolls in 2x2's - I guess it's just cause I'm starting off and don't have too much yet.
I love taking my coins out of the 2x2s. and looking at them, playing with them. I usually do it while Im watching tv. Its the only way tv is enjoyable anymore. I don't roll search, and since it's so super rare to find silver in my change, when I do I put it in a 2x2 with the date and place I got it. It's okay you can laugh
Got to feel up a couple rolls of double eagles bare handed once. Nothin like having a bullion investor as a friend. Wouldn't do it to my own or with any unc coins though.
Nothing wrong with doing that. But then I would not call it junk - I would call it my collection. To me junk silver is a silver coin I found in circulation and it has no meaning in my collection. I toss it into a cup. I have no problem with some who collects silver from circulation as a collection. Just difference in the definition of the terms.
I love the feel and heft of a big gold coin in my hands (feels like an extension ...). Problem was all my big gold is slabbed. I bought a gold eagle just so I could have something to fondle.
