I decided to upgrade my Julia Soaemias from the one I had already due after a year of owning the other one, I assume the cleaning marks on it got to me. I only paid $20 more for the new one & I know I can get back what I paid and then some with the old one.

Plus this ones reverse details trump the old ones in many ways.

The old one can be viewed at the link below.

Cool coin Mat. You make a good point about flaws in coins limiting their long term enjoyment. Its something to think about. Sometimes 1 better coin is better than 5 inferior ones. Something I should pay attention to more. :(

I agree, its a great upgrade. If the other toned it would look allot better, but still not as nice as this one.

Other one has been officially sold, as with some others. Already got a replacement Mamaea scooped up.

Definitely a nicer looking coin, with a more expressive portrait as well.

Regarding denarii which have been cleaned, I find it a pity that so many of them are bright from cleaning. There is nothing more appealing than a 2000 year old coin with its original patina, whether it be dark or light.

Very true sir, but I see many of these have bad horn silver coming out of the ground. I am not thinking they are trying to make them shiny more they are trying to remove all encrustations while cleaning.
