It isn't often that I find or buy dimes for my set anymore as they've become harder to find and what started out as a G-F set of dimes almost ten years ago has almost been replaced by an XF-AU with the occasional MS in there set. But I saw this 16-S in a high AU, I'm calling it a probable 55 and its been dipped in the not to recent past, but it fits well with some of the other coins, so bam, I pulled the trigger and it came home with me.
Nice one. I know how you feel about finding nice AU's. Certain 'easy' dates are very tough to find. I've been working on my set for about 10 years+ also. nice AU's can be more attractive than uncs.
Indeed, I find that a lot of MS coins are low end and beat up. I'd like to find a decent 14-S and even a nice 10-P but so many that I look at have been harshly scrubbed or are damaged.
