Now that's a beautiful collection! I didn't realize you had so many. How long have you been at it?

I tried a VF barber half collection once... but the pockets ran dry far to quick. I would love to start another in the future. Very nice collection!

I appreciate a nice honest mid-range barber half more than a high-end one any day of the week. Awesome set!

  6. Thanks for the comments, guys. It's not an easy set and its definitely not a popular one. But I enjoy the hunt. Some are ones I sent in over the past year or so which is really rewarding.

JohnA...I first started on the set as a F-VF set in march of '11. But I sold all but about 4 VF's to help with a house purchase last year. So I'd say I've been working on this set for about 2 years with a purge in between.

Yep, it is ridiculously tough finding those VF's without breaking the bank. THis was a lofty ambition I had a few years ago, and I was able to obtain 4 or 5 nice ones...and that took several months of looking. They sell for many multiples of book quotes cause of the difficulty of the search.
A man that attempts this feat is a gentleman, and has brass cojones too. ;)

  9. I don't know about the gentleman part or the brass, but I do like a challenge. Also, I put up different pics of the 93-s which is a lot closer to in hand.

Very nice man - that 96-O is great. You should upgrade and sell me that one !!!

The 93s looks super. I like the "toning cameo" effect on so many of these pieces.

  12. Even if I do eventually sell this set, that probably won't be one of them. ;) The 93-S, 96-O, and 02-S will always have a home.

Edit: Although, that 02-S you snagged a while ago is a killer!

I think the 1896-o is great, and a very under appreciated coin.

  15. LD, pictures are in the works for this year. I will be sending off the first batch sometime soon for a round of images from one of CT's finest.

BK, the 96-O is a great date. In XF up it's a tough coin to find. I could go on about under appreciated dates, but the 96-O is very appreciated in high grades. It's about the rarest coin in the series in MS. There is only 21 coins graded in MS at PCGS.

Even in VF they aren't very common. You cant find one close to book, or Pcgs pricing

  17. So very true. When I bought mine, PCGS price guide was $335 and I paid more for it that current PCGS price guide @ $500

They are priced in the $700's now. I started a grade set of them. I Have a 8, 10, 15, and two 20's. I was bidding on a Vf and Xf on Heritage last month but I got whooped by other bidders.
