Thanks to a generous offer from another CT member I'm scanning coins again. Right now I am using VERY limited software and have done but a few scans. I'm pleased so far and know it will only get better.

Here's a nice representation of the reverse of an 1865 Two Cent Piece. Color and detail is basically spot on and all I did was crop the picture.

Next I need to work on silver and copper with better luster but that will come about. Just nice to have a functioning scanner back. Practice will get me better pics.

Not bad for a scanner. I wish you luck with getting luster to show properly on a scanner, I think you'll need it.

    Well done.
And continue using the black background. That will pretty well make sure that the image you collect will be close to true and not get washed out.

Shiny and proof coins can be a real problem to image, particularly with a scanner.

Luck is not needed at all - just a little basic knowledge of scanners ;)
