I have just received a job lot of Chinese cash, and among them was this unusual Yunnan Jia Qing Tong Bao. It is small and light (20.0mm, 1.4g) and is poorly cast. The Boo character on the reverse is unlike any on my other Qing coins. Hartill does not list a coin of this type, but Schjoth lists it as 1497. Is this a private issue, or contemporary counterfeit? What do you experts think?
Schjoth was pretty hard to fool. If he listed it, it's probably real. The quality of the casting is pretty typical of both real and fake Qing coins.
