UNUSUAL RIPPLING ON 1966 SMS KENNEDY HALF (6)

    I have been going through a lot of SMS Halfs and came across this ANY IDEAS ? The First 6 has 5 Ripples . I hope the pic Shows IMG_6721.JPG

    Looks like a contact mark left by another half dollar hitting it.

    I've seen some funny things going on with '66 SMS dates.

    I might be able to post photos very soon and will put them here if so.

    The coins in the SMS were not handled carefully like today's proofs. Contact marks are common.

    Make sure u check that baby for a ddo which is very common for this issue. The easiest way to tell is to look at the front profile of Kennedy and look for doubling. Also check the reverse for the missing initials, another big variety.

    Sure looks to me like doubling from the chin to forehead.

    I think I see what Pacecar is talking about. Not an error expert by any stretch, but I do see what looks like some doubling. Not sure if it's MD or an actual DDO, though.
