I know die cracks can happen anywhere on a coin, but I have never seen one start at the mint mark. The close-up of the MM is terrible I know, but it was the best I could do. The crack is raised and does not appear to be a scratch that has worn down. I know it is a minor error, but interesting. Does anyone else have photos of die cracks starting at the MM? I forgot to mention that the crack thins out and goes to just shy of the six. The thinner part of the crack does not show up in the photo. You need to have it in hand.
The San Jose die Crack on the 1954-S cent connects from the 5 to the S and the shape of the crack resembles a J.
Thanks. I told you the photos were poor. I posted the best I could do. Sorry it did not meet your expectations!
