Egyptian Magic Coins usually look like this: The obverse has a seated Pharoah and the reverse has a Sphinx and Pyramids. They are usually made in America and have been since the early 1900's. This one came from an Ebay seller in France: Ebay is good for these items as they are unusual, inexpensive, and no one is going to return one because of a disagreement over the grade. The obverse has an Egyptian obelisk, a temple, and two lines of Sphinxes. The reverse is the standard one. I wonder why someone decided that the French coin needed a different obverse. I would ponder this more but I have to go and make Tana Leaf tea for Kharis.
This one is from Australia: Can anyone identify the figure with the long ears to the left of the seated Pharoah?
Maybe Sha, the totemic animal of the god Seth, or perhaps Anubis, but both of those are always portrayed with ears standing straight up, not at angles. But it's a magic coin, so perhaps it's stylized?
Cool medallions! The French are big into obelisks. In 1829 the then Ottoman Viceroy of Egypt gave the Luxor obelisk to France. It was transported to Paris and now is "planted" in the Place de la Concorde.
