Hey all! Calling all world and China cash coins experts! I was watching this coin last week on GreatCollections since I've been looking to add a Charles Tanant Collection cash to my collection. I ended up not buying it, since I could find no trace of this coin in Hartill's Cast Chinese Coins. I had thought that the script looked interesting. What's your opinions of this? Is it a local issue or imitation of the official issues? Or is it a rare cash that is unlisted in Hartill's book? I couldn't figure out what the mintmark was, and found no comparable ones in Hartill's book. Obviously NGC's description doesn't clarify anything, so I would be interested in what you all think! Here's the link to the sale: https://www.greatcollections.com/Co...Coin-NGC-Genuine-Ex-Charles-Tanant-Collection
Apologies for the delay in response. I'm at college at the moment and do not have access to my copy of Hartill (will on Monday when I go back home for break). If my recollection serves, the style of the script is quite different on Hartill 22.332 when compared to this, especially in the shape of the Boo-san characters on the reverse. Curious if you see the same thing. This is what made me think perhaps it was an unlisted variation or local imitation.
Oh how interesting. I'm wondering if I looked at an incorrect number in my book on accident. That does look spot on. Is that from the 2017 edition? Thanks for the picture. I'll have to look in my copy when I get home and figure out how I got confused!
