Unlisted Hadrian Cistophorus Uncertain mint

    Hi all,

    New Legend type for Hadrian Cistophorus
    New bust for reverse

    Reference.
    cf RIC 517; cf Metcalf 125; cf RPC 3, 1418 different bust and legend

    Obv. IMP CAES TRAI (?) HADRIANVS AVG P MAX (?) TRI POT COS III P P
    Laureate, draped, cuirassed bust right, seen from behind.

    Rev. COS — III
    Legionary eagle between two standards.

    9.8 gr

    I was hoping to get my first Cistophorus and saw it going in my price range.

    Still went for a good price too.

    Interesting coin, Oki. I can't figure out what's going on with the edges, though... are all those file marks present on the actual coin or is it something to do with the photography/photo-editing?

    You mean the wood table visible between the edges of the coin and the circular cropping? :D At a glance it does rather look like a reeded edge.

    my brain saw that as the edges of the coin at first as well, until it couldn't figure out what perspective the obverse would have been shot from.

    it's a awesome lookin' coin oki!
