I set this coin aside because the mintmark was practically touching the 9 in the date. I know the MM was hand punched into the dies back then and they can be sporadically placed, however, I didn't know if the D almost touching the date was something to keep or not. Upon further examination I noticed an extra eyelid to the southeast. I can't find this one listed on coppercoins. It would stand out pretty easily with the MM location. The closest is 1956D-1DO-013, but it still is further away than mine. Also, take a look at the other pics. It is probably nothing, but the other devices seem thick. Thanks all!
Definitely appears to be a nice doubled eyelid. If you can't find a match, definitely looks listable.
http://varietyvista.com/Variety Master Listings/lincoln doubled dies 1956-1958.htm Check here. There are several known varieties for the 56D that have a doubled eyelid. The 56 D was notorious for bad placements of the mintmarks. Hope this helps.
