Hello everyone! A friend of mine showed this coin to me, and wondered the same thing I was wondering... what is it? What's the value? When was it minted? If any of you can find some info on this, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks
A denarius showing Faustina I. Unfortunately, it was minted circa 2004. Its a Lipanoff fake. A very dangerous one, too. If I hadn't been able to cross reference it, I may have let it go as genuine. Before reading your post I was thinking this coin is a fake because it looks like a cast counterfeit (especially the reverse). Is this fake coin cast or struck?
I think it may be die struck. But I see the same thing, especially on the reverse. Either a good cast or a bad strike.
