Hi Guy's, first of all thanks for the help with my 68 penny I posted a couple days ago. I have a 2000 Maryland quarter that I think was made from a dirty or defective blank. At first glance you will think that it is a grind or sand job, but I don't think so. If it was a grind job there would be ground down rim and letters but they are all sharp with no damage and raised like all other quarters. The problem as with most will be my pictures and the stains on the coin, it was found outside with about 15.00 dollars quarter 006.jpg worth of change. I am also wondering if I can clean it with any thing so you guy's can get a better idea ( I know cleaning coins is a no no but is it necessary in some cases?) What I think happened is a blank got rolled through something and then it was struck, but I need your oppinions, please! quarter 007.jpg quarter 006.jpg

This looks like environmental damage from being exposed to the elements. but Im just guessing at it from what I can see in the photos.
