I was given this coin in place of a penny ate one point and I was wondering what it is. Both sides have a square area with a simple geometric pattern around the border. On one side there is a human skull with seven tentacles in place of the lower jaw, while the other side contains what appears to be a compass rose. I would guess that the coin is either made of or plated with bronze, but I could be wrong. Any information on this coin would be appreciated.
IMO: It is probably a token of some kind or piece of jewelry. Coins have a single date, a unit of currency and identify the government that issued it.
This is right on. Infact, some Statehood quarters have 3-4 dates on them. Virginia comes to mind. Actually, there are quite a few coins out there that don't clearly identify which government issued what. Coins from Great Britain and Euros tend to be fairly vague.
Sad part to all of this is I knew coins have multiple dates on them...just wasn't paying attention to my words. Thank you all for correcting me. :hail:
Hi! That coin you have is actually a replica from the game The witcher. It was included with the game when you buy the collectors edition
