Hey everyone!Yeah okay anyhow, today I was rummaging through my closet and found this coin. It is in pretty good condition but I don't know what it is or how much it is worth. It is a 1969 coin it says on the front "United States Mint-Philadelphia August 14,1969" and on the bottom "Department of The Treasury" on the back it has an eagle with thew united states in front of it in it's left talon it has a plant in it's right it has a key and in it's mouth it has a wieght thing.Under it is the letter P.Here are the pics. http://www.geocities.com/theerkit/coinback.html http://www.geocities.com/theerkit/coinfront.html
Every legal tender coin of the United States has a denomination, and the words "United States of America" included in the designs. Without those two essentials, a round metal thing is never a U.S. coin What you have is this medal, which is currently available from the U.S. Mint for $2.75 plus postage & handling.
It looks to be a United States Medal commemorating the Philadelphia Mint. Here is a link to them on the US Mint Web Site: http://catalog.usmint.gov/wcs/wcs_c...menbr;1000+cgnbr;7511+parentCategory;,00.html Not worth much but Mint Medals are an interesting collectible area.
Sorry for the redundant post above. I didn't see the same link in satootoko's post. I got distracted by the big dancing hotdog.
