One side is completely worn - probably from being a pocket piece. Other side as seen in photo. legend says "Saint Christophar Protect Us" Anyone have any info on it?
These were fairly common medals . I recall having a couple given to me when I was just a young lad . You probably correct with your reasoning for being well worn .
Any idea on the date range? That looks a bit like WPA art from the 30's (or contemporary Eastern European propaganda artwork).
Yep, an old Catholic medal. St Christopher was very popular in the 1960's to wear. That said, yours looks older than that.
thanks for all the replies. I did some net searching, and found that Saint Christopher, which I now know is the patron saint of the traveler!, is common on these tokens. I found a dozen designs, but this one was not one of them. Very cool. I found it in a jar of coins my parents kept in their attic since 1976. 10 wheaties so far too! 1934 is the oldest so far.
