It is a coin of Pontus...city Amisos. Modern day northern Turkey.

    similar to this one:

If authentic maybe worth 150+ USD...or whatever someone might pay for it :) Cant find your exact coin but this info might help you find it...it is without doubt amisos

What size is the coin (diameter in mm's please), and if possible what is its weight in grams / parts thereof?

I've had a look at the coin image, lightened it up, improved contrast, and generally enlarged it. I'm not fully convinced that it is a genuine coin
due to lack of script on the reverse. It's not as if there is significant wear on the coin and the scripting is usually protected by the high points of the coin (under the wings of the owl as it were), but I am prepared to be mistaken. If you care to provide the data requested i'll happily do a fuller search for coins of that type.

Would you also look closely at the actual edge of the coin and check to see if there is a visible line where the two halves of the coin have been joined together?

yeah, this is why I put 'if it is authentic' on both the coins he posted. Although I could not say for certain, this coin looks a bit fishy but I couldnt and wouldnt say without seeing a closer, more clear image and the edge.

What was the result of checking out the edge of the coin (preferably with a magnifying glass)? Any sign of a seam?

no i don't see a seam but i looked it up on google and i saw some coins without any writings.

I'd be delighted for you if the coin turns out to be genuine. I'd also be interested to see the data / links you obtained via google. Can you provide the web addresses?
