Hi and thanks for having a look. I have just begun getting serious about focusing on ancient coins as they are a bit more common in Europe, and I love ancient history, mostly focused on Rome (East and West).

Found this coin at a flea market this weekend and it seemed worth a go. Not sure what it was, but it was described as possibly Roman (pretty sure it isn't), which the guy bought from an Afghan in Thailand.

The coin is around 25mm, 15g, and seems bronze, similar if size to a Roman As. The figures are dressed in a Persian-like garb. There is a letter on the right which unlike most common alphabets. Almost like a stick figure. There is some arabic script on the figure which seems later. The figures appear to be wearing skirt-like clothing, which seem pseudo Mesopotamian.

Any help would be much appreciated. I seem to have caught the bug on collecting these. I have a very small Roman collection as well, but almost all of those have been positively ID'd.

Thank you! It would have taken a long time to find this on Numista.
