PCGS PR66 CAM. Cert. #56828533. CAC verified.

    Numista-5336, Krause-Mishler-95.

    Mintage: 4,582.

Ex-Northeast Numismatics, 7 February 2026. Acquired in a swap deal.

The copper-nickel three-cent piece is an interesting denomination and type, yet also one of the more reasonably affordable 19th century type coins in proof format. This one has attractive cameo (CAM) contrast, is in supergem grade, and is also confirmed in that grade by the Certified Acceptance Corporation (CAC), which affixed their popular "green bean" sticker to the slab.

It supersedes by one grade point my previous best example of the type, which was also an 1888, in PCGS PR65 CAM (no CAC). That prior coin was a bit more toned than this one, which has only very subtle goldish toning.
