Hi! I have this unique misprint penny. I am interested in the estimated price of the item.

I'm sorry to tell you, but your coin is hardly unique. In fact it is more properly described as "scarce", not "rare".

Off center strikes, especially of US cents, generally bring the highest premiums when they are at least 50% off center and the full date shows.

I haven't checked lately, but EBay sometimes has listings for clocks made with 12 off-center cents arranged to represent the numbers, each one off-center in a direction that lines up with the center of the clock.

Since I don't collect errors, I can't quote a value, but being an XF/AU grade, with only the century part of the date visible, I suspect it's worth a couple of bucks or less. If the decade digit is 100% identifiable (and I can't tell for sure from the small picture), it might be worth a tad more.

Edited: I guess hamman88 types faster than I do. :p

The coin in question is rather common actually, they can be found at any coin show for under 5 bucks.

    Misprinted Penny

I'm not much into coins, but my father-n-law is. He just brought me a penny that looks identical to this one and asked me to see if it had any value. He's not an avid collector, to him if it's different, it's interesting and that's all that matters to him. But he's always curious. So, I told him i'd look it up for him. Even if it's not worth much of anything, he's still excited about it. Thanks for the information.
