I am in the process of evaluating this coin and sure would appreciate any imput from the experts out there.

This is a 1943 Steel grease filled die coin.

The errors appear to be a ghost 4 in the 1943.

On the reverse the "O" is wobbley.

There appears to be extra wide spacing between the M & E and the C & A in America.

The only method I have to evaluate so far is comparison to normal 1943 coins.

Here are the pictures; normal coin on left and the grease fill die coin on right.

Coin on left appears to have been replated, coin on right is showing areas of corrosion. The 4 is often weak or missing on the 1943's. It seems to have been a favorite spot for grease build up that year.

Thanks Conder, I didn't know that 1943 was noted for a weak 4. What do you think of the spacing on America ?
